I wanted to share with you a guide for your daily skincare routine and talk about how important each step is.
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleansing your skin will help you maintain clear skin. Skin cleansing clears pores of debris to prevent buildup. Throughout the day our skin gets covered with bacteria, pollutants, dirt, old skin cells and makeup. In order for your skin to not get clogged you need to wash away unwanted debris to prevent the production of excess oils. Cleansing is the most important element of maintaining healthy skin.
Step 2: Exfoliate
Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells that are clogging the skin. Removal of dry or dead skin cells that are sitting on the skin’s surface, helps get rid of many skin problems. Exfoliating will also help increase blood circulation. Good blood circulation will lead you to achieve healthy glowing skin.
Step 3: Toner
Toner helps shrink the appearance of pores, diminish blemishes, minimize signs of redness and inflammation. This step will help balance the pH(potential hydrogen)level of your skin. Toning helps prep the skin for what is coming next.
Step 4: Serum
Applying serum to your skin will help skin retain moisture. Serums are filled with high concentration and potent dose of ingredients like antioxidants and peptides directly to your skin.
Step 5: Protect and Moisturize
Important step in our daily routine is to protect your skin with sunscreen. Applying sunscreen onto your skin will prevent you from premature aging, brown spots and skin discoloration. You want to protect your skin from UV light exposure which will reduce your risk from skin cancer.
Moisturizing your skin helps boosts hydration on skin and provides your skin with water. When you moisturize you prevent your skin from flaking and dullness. Moisturizers create a protective layer, a transparent shield that will protect your skin from environmental dirt that will penetrate into your pores. The process of applying moisturizer onto your skin stimulates the circulation of blood to the body which helps stimulate collagen. Moisturizers contain vitamins and nutrients that our skin needs.
Step 6: Eye cream
The skin around our eye is the thinnest skin on our body so we have to make sure to be fragile with our eye area. Since our eyes are constantly active by blinking, the skin around our eye area is the first to show aging. Eye cream will help decrease puffiness, stimulate collagen production, provides antioxidants to prevent free radical damage to skin and reduce discoloration. Eye creams have a tightening benefit.
Step 7: Lip exfoliate and lip moisturize
Our lips do not contain oil glands like the rest of our face. Main reason why our lips get chapped often is because we don’t have any natural oils producing in our lips. Exfoliating your lips is just as important as exfoliating your face. It will help you avoid getting cracked and peeling lips. Make sure to always put moisturize with an SPF lip balm, our lips need protection also. We all want to maintain soft lips.
When starting any new skincare regimen, your breakouts will intensify before it clears. If you experience breakouts, it is very common. All the congestion that is trapped beneath your skin is coming to your skin’s surface, which will make it noticeable to you. Be patient and stick to your steps, you will start seeing the change on your skin. You are only doing your skin good by following a good skincare regimen.
Consistency is key!
